Rouwaida Mallo El Arid, is a Lebanese artist born at Zahlé in 1972. She discovered her passion for art from a very young age, she would be contemplating nature and her imagination would let her see things in a unique way.
Rouwaida won her first drawing contest at the age of nine years old at school for drawing the Lebanese Flag, that is when she decided to pursue a career in art. Her art teacher at school influenced her techniques as he taught them to reimagine the lights and the shadows.
The artist took a break from art to study Psychology. She got her teaching degree and became an art teacher at a private school.
Art offers peace of mind for Rouwaida and she is at her happiest when she is teaching her students. She likes to draw in nature under natural light and in different seasons and time of day. The artist consider nature to be her muse for what it holds of magical scenes and beauty.
Her artwork is focused on oil paintings, and consists of a mix of strong and popping colors. She is most influenced by well-known impressionist painters like Van Ghog and Monet and Picasso. And she also holds a dear place in her heart for Lebanese artists like Saliba Douaihy and Mostafa Faroukh.
Rouwaida paints in an Abstract style with cubic and symmetrical techniques introducing all shapes and colors, so her painting inspire the spirit of cities free of pollution.
Rouwaida believes that an artist is always in need of research and learning and self-education.
