Cake Seller 2

Being from the city of Tripoli, the young artist was inspired by the scenes on the streets of his city. Tripoli gained a lot of recognition in the latest events of the Lebanese revolution since 17th October 2019.  This historical revolution would obviously affect the artwork of the young generation.

Although the words “hope and pain” have similar letters, they have contradicting  meanings. Pain is the result of  unmet needs whether they are individual, collective, moral or material … and sometimes the lack of decent living essentials is the result of circumstances outside the boundaries of the will.

As for hope, it is the opposing force that the self creates to fight pain and triumph over it.

In one of the squares of Tripoli – Lebanon, in the darkness of the night and in a bitter cold, the sleeping cake seller leans his head to the door of his livelihood as if he is at the height of despair. The cake cart is that hope, and the seller is a homeless man who is fed up with it and he has no place to live or a shoulder to lean on.
